We know that oral hygiene isn’t the most thrilling topic for every man out there.Men’s Teeth is not a football or NASCAR or fishing or video games. But proper oral hygiene is very important to your health if you want to continue to enjoy all those other fun things. So listen up! We’ll make it quick.
July is National Men’s Health month, and we want to make sure all of our male patients in Richardson are taking care of their teeth the best way possible. If you have any questions about your teeth or any of the information below, don’t hesitate to call Dr. Goad!
Your Teeth Are Not Tools
It’s super handy to just have a mouth full of jar-openers and label-peelers and tag-rippers, right? No!
Please don’t use your teeth as tools! At the very least you can damage the enamel, leaving them sensitive to both heat and cold. At the worst, you can break off a tooth and need a painful extraction of the pieces left. So stick with tools outside your mouth, please, and save your teeth for food.
If you have a painful or sensitive tooth, don’t just try to suck it up and deal with the pain. While it could be something minor, it could also be the sign of a serious problem such as root damage or severe gum disease. The longer you try to “live with it”, the more dangerous it could become, even leading to potentially life-threatening situations.
Teeth Whitening for Men
Men can whiten their teeth too! Teeth whitening isn’t just for women, and there’s nothing wrong with a man wanting his teeth to look as bright and fresh as possible. The important thing to remember is that bleaching can make your teeth sensitive and, if it does, you have to let us know! We can always tailor our treatment to your comfort level, and our Richardson dental staff wants you to be as comfortable as possible.
Don’t forget to let Dr. Goad know if you have any questions!
